This time, it seems the cut-offs would be lower as compared to last year. Only 16,188 students with a score of above 90% have applied as compared to 16,62 last year.
Students getting 90% and above in SSC, most of the of students belong to state board (6,906), and 4,146 are from ICSE and 1,960 are from CBSE boards. Principal of a reputed college in South Mumbai said a lot of their seats would not be taken up by SSC students and instead be taken up by the non-state board students. The Principal said, “We usually have students from the ICSE and CBSE students in the first merit list and these students confirm their fyjc admissions. Most of the students who has got scores of above 95% would be from these boards.
The education department has increased seats at top colleges making sure that SSC students have a fair chance. The cut-off at top colleges could be lower but it could mean higher vacancies in the other colleges as more students will be accommodated in a few colleges.

Commerce has the maximum number of applicants, the most number of students with a score of above 95% are in the science stream. Out of the total 1,608 students with this score, 184 are from SSC, 248 from CBSE board and 349 from ICSE board.
